Small Successes — Demolition Edition

It’s important for moms to recognize that all the small successes in our days can add up to one big triumph. So on Thursday of each week, we do exactly that.

1) We tore down the sagging old detached garage.  See previous two posts for details.  Since posting the last picture we have put up an arbor, arranged flowerpots around the border, and positioned our picnic table in the middle along with two chairs.  But have I taken a picture of that yet?  … I’ll get back with you on that one. 😉

2) We seem to have found The Color of paint for our main living areas: Benjamin Moore’s “Butte Rock.”    Now to get that mustard paint covered….

3) I tried some recipes from the Pioneer Woman’s website: Her “favorite meatloaf” and ‘”Best Chocolate Sheet Cake. Ever.”  It is fortunate that I did not make these both on the same day, or I should have been ill from excessive overindulgence.  😉

  1. I’m cracking up at the name of your paint color – I guess being around all these boys has given me the sense of humor of a 5 year old boy..

    “Benjamin Moore’s Butt Rock!” HAHAHAHAHA!!

Could they have chosen a different name?

  2. Yes…I raised an eyebrow at the name, too. 😉 But *I* picked “Simple Pleasures” and it turned out looking like mustard, so going by color *and* name wasn’t such a hot idea. ;)-

I think I was all of 10yrs old before I actually learned the correct pronunciation of “butte.” Until that time, I felt quite sorry for those who lived in Butte, Montana.

  3. Wow — that was some serious demolition! Great job!!

I wish I had the pluck to do a major project like that. You might have just inspired me finally to paint the trim in our living room, though :).

  4. Technically the pluck belongs to my husband; I just watched the kids to make sure they didn’t escape out a window to help out with the heavy equipment. Oh, and I provided moral support of course, and chocolate cake. 😉

  5. Yum, love that chocolate sheet cake! A friend of mine made it for her girl’s birthday party this weekend, and it just tastes better every time I have it. And the meatloaf is great, too. You can always count on Ree for some great recipes. Great job!
